The season finale for 2002/2003 couldn't have gotten
any better. Spectators and competitors were treated
to some excellent sunny weather and great close racing.
With over 60 vehicles entered the pits were fairly crowded.
It was great to see so many new faces at the race track,
some competitors coming from as far away as Mildura
and South Australia to try out the traction at Ballarat.
With the club looking to make further improvements
to the race track, the 2003/2004 season is shaping up
to be a cracker. Watch this space!
Super Gas - Matt Forbes
6
cars entered for the first round of Super Gas. At the
top of the qualifying ladder was Matt Forbes with a
6.40 on a 6.40, behind the wheel of Chris Johnson's
'Mopar Rent-a-Car' Gallant. The first round match ups
saw the Gemini Coupe of Stuart McBain hole shot Kym
Oberauer in his Datsun 120Y, the Subaru Vortex of Neil
Hendry drive around the Torana of Steve Carey and Matt
Forbes take the win over Collin Griffin in his Toyota
Celica.
With an uneven field in the semi finals, Matt Forbes
took the bye while Stuart McBain defeated Neil Hendry.
The final was a close affair with Matt Forbes taking
the advantage from the start line and recording a win
when he crossed the stripe. (View

Competition
Car - Darren Wagner
Shaun Tunny in his LJ Torana top qualified in 16 vehicle
Competition Car bracket, running consistent 5.70s all
day.
After two rounds of racing, the semi finals came down
to parings between Graeme Blaby in his A40 ute and the
Mazda RX7 of Glenn Latter, and Darren Wagner in the
HX Holden up against Adam Murrihy in his HQ Coupe. The
first paring saw Blaby from Mildura take the win, while
South Australian Darren Wagner took out the second paring.
The tow from South Australia was well worth the effort
for Darren and the team, with Wagner staying in front
of Graeme Blaby to take the win in the final. (View
the bracket sheet).
Super
Sedan - Derek Wills
'Practice makes perfect' as the saying goes, with regular
Ballarat competitor Derek Wills taking the win in the
Super Sedan bracket. A surprise casualty of round two
was Andrew Francis is his Toyota Celica who was coming
off a win at the Mildura Tri Series round.
The semi finals were won by Derek Wills in his FC Holden
over the VB Commodore of Adam Moody, and Graham Collet
in his LJ Torana over the XE Falcon of Daniel Foster.
With a 1 second handicap on the tree, Derek Wills was
able to chase down the fleeing XE Falcon to take the
win. (View

Super
Street - Dales Bridges
As a testament to the 'run what cha brung' attitude,
the Super Street bracket fielded all types of cars with
all forms of motivation. From rotaries, turbo 4s and
6s to the ever green small block chev
Super Street
had them all.
Semi final 1 saw the Holden Rodeo of John Joore take
the win from Jackie Loveday and her Holden Ute. While
is semi final 2, it was the Mazda RX4 of Dale Bridges
who took the win over Stephen Stanton in his HX Holden.
In the final paring of Super Street it was Dale Bridges
who took home the winners trophy and prize money. (View
the bracket sheet).

Street Bike
An excellent turn out of 6 street bike competitors raced
heads up in a round robin format. At the end of the
day both John Burns and David Peddlesden were on 4 wins
each and decided to split the proceeds.
Best
Presented - Graeme Blaby
The best presented ward went to Graeme Blaby and his
Austin A40 ute. The Mildura based racer had a good day
also grabbing the runner up trophy and prize money in
the Competition Car bracket.
Best Burnout - Shaun Woodhouse
The best burnout prize money went to Shaun Woodhouse
in his VT Commodore for a start line to finish line
smoky. It's amazing what you can do when you replace
your slicks with stockies.
